I’ve had a fair few facials in my time, they’re my favourite treatment!
I’d always been a big fan of the Jo Malone ones at their Sloane Street store (£120) but as I’m getting older (gulp) I need a more deep cleansing facial with extractions.
I saw Manchester-born Rani Mirza at her salon in Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge. She really does have healing hands, I could have stayed all day and it’s no wonder schlebs come to see her from Naomi ‘beat ‘em down’ Campbell to Danni Minogue and many a beauty editor.
I had her legendary Red Carpet Facial (£180 for 2hrs) which combines Le Grande Classique Facial (cleansing, exfoliation and extraction followed by relaxing massage and mask), Diamond Tone (resurfacing technique for removing the top layer of the skin) and Oxygen Therapy (a soothing treatment to revitalise skin using oxygen). The results more than speak for themselves and three weeks on my skin is still blemish free and beautifully, baby soft.
It’s generally beginning to dawn on me that you really get what you pay for, in life and for us mere mortals £180 is a fair whack to spend on a facial. I’d be inclined to have a few of these a year with regular DIY home facials inbetween rather than (as I used to) bi-monthly Clarins facials with no extraction or deep cleansing.
I’m totally converted, she is amazing!
Another major bonus is that there is a charming little Russian café below that does some nice pre-facial nibbles.

Sounds good! I might need to try it myself!
