What a day! Terry Barber from MAC did a demo on music and beauty, which was fabulous. The look he created fused traditional beauty with toughness. But one thing he did say – which resonates with me because I take ages to do my own make up (I'm quick on others, though!) – was not too stress over your look, as it takes away 'the soul' when you labour at it too much.
Could Alex Box could be any more lovely and inspirational if she tried? Just listening to her key note speech and meeting her after really inspired me to start getting a bit more creative with make up. Sometimes I just fall into the rut and familiarity of playing it safe – however, it's not in my nature to be like that, so I need to stop being lazy! Alex also talked about being a Goth and about how people wanted her to dilute herself down, which anyone alternative has probably gone through at some point. Anyway, she’s frickin’ awesome, enough said. I also learned that lovely David Vanian from the Damned is part of the Illamasqua creative *swooooon.* Über crush on him in case you haven’t guessed! ;)
