TESTY: Estee Lauder Pure Gloss

Expect the best and you'll never be disappointed eh?

Ever the optimist I thought that maybe, just maybe, this gloss would be rich, decadent and luscious. From the tube, it certainly seemed to be. I toyed playfully with the idea that texture-wise it could be as opaque as a MAC lip glass, with the rich jewel shine of a Lancôme L'Absolu Crème De Brilliance gloss and the depth of colour only a Laura Mercier gloss could reach. Sheer unbridled lip gloss heaven. I fancied that it would feature in my ultimate dream scenario. As I glide across the dance floor led by Vincent Kartheiser (Pete Campbell in Mad Men, do keep up chaps) the light falls from the 15th Century French glass chandelier across my face and onto my perfectly made up golden-apricot lips that shimmer like the Arabian Sea and then he moves forward and in for the kill…until..

I realize they're not my lips, its not this gloss. It just doesn’t have it in it to be brilliant. If you’re darker skinned it just looks like tinted lip balm. It's certainly not the beauty product that dreams are made of anyway.
